A Seattle-based guitarist Bill Horist delivers an idiosyncratic and richly emotive take on the world’s most ubiquitous instrument. He has played on dozens of records and has performed throughout North and Central America, Europe and Japan; collaborating with numerous leading lights in a beguiling range of genres. Perhaps best known for his prepared guitar treatments, his work is widely regarded alongside masters like Fred Frith and Keith Rowe.
He has cultivated a unique voice in a number of styles in the realms of, jazz, rock, folk, and experimental music.
Horist is also becoming known as a masterful acoustic fingerstyle player in the tradition of Leo Kottke and John Fahey; additionally incorporating elements from Asia, India, the Middle-East and West Africa.
SOLEDAD MUÑOZ AND STEFANA FRATILA
SOLEDAD MUÑOZ is an interdisciplinary artist born in Toronto, Canada and raised in Rancagua, Chile. She completed the Textile Arts Program at Capilano University. Here she focused mostly on weaving, acquiring skills that are now the material base for her practice. Soledad graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design in 2013. Here she developed a body of work composed by performance, sound based installations and environment responsive pieces, which come alive through an affective encounter with the viewer.
STEFANA FRATILA was born in Sibiu, Romania. She lives in Vancouver, Canada (unceded Coast Salish Territories). Her experimental pop is a combination of electronica, psych, and drone. Many aspects of her live performances are improvised over top of textured binaural beats that can induce subliminal emotional reactions in audience members. Stefana’s songs are thematically influenced by Bollywood music and films (for example, by the theme of Bhayanak which is like fear or anxiety) and heavily centered around the experiences of boyats (Arab women who dress like boys underneath their burkas).
Born in the Austrian countryside, currently residing in vienna. Graduate of the course for Computermusic and Electronic Media at the Institute for Composition and Electroacoustics in Vienna. Works with sound, live-electronic, phonography, radio-art, installations… concerts-performances-exhibitions-projects in Austria, Czech Republic, Canada, Germany, India, Liechtenstein, Iceland, Serbia, Poland, Norway.
