A base knowledge of electronics gives the artist the opportunity to introduce electronic circuitry into a variety of media including sculpture, sound, and light-based works. This course will cover some basic theory of electronic principals that is essential for beginning to work with this medium. From there we will look at some of the components that make up simple circuits and that create the building blocks for more complex circuits. Students will learn some of the basic skills needed for electronic work such as soldering, breadboarding, and reading a schematic. These skills will be used to build from a selection of projects: a small audio amplifier with speaker, a 555 timer/oscillator, a punk atari sound synth.

The cost of materials that you take home with you ($10-15) is included in the workshop fee.
