Deadlines

Artist in Residence, Curatorial and Screenings/Exhibitions/Events submissions are accepted all year, however the next review is in September 2013 for 2014 programming. Our 2013 calendar is fully booked. Please submit by email only.

Co-production, Member Events, Donation and Teaching submissions are accepted on an ongoing basis and are subject to availability and capacity.

 


Artist in Residence

All potential residences require a formal written application.

The following items are required in any proposal:
1. Two proposed dates/timeframe for the residency.
2. A 200-400 word description of what you would like do while in residence at VIVO.
3. An itemized list of financial needs from VIVO.
4. An itemized list of equipment needs from VIVO.
5. An itemized list of technical assistance/support required from VIVO.
6. 200 word description of what you can offer VIVO and its community as a whole. Example: workshop, theoretical artist talks, new skills.
7. A concise (maximum two page) personal and/or organizational CV.
8. Two examples of proposed work that will be included in the screening/exhibition/event. Must be viewable online.

Curatorial

All requests for curation at VIVO require a formal written application. *

The following items are required in any proposal:
1. Two proposed dates/timeframe for the screening/exhibition/event.
2. A 200-400 word description of your curatorial direction including proposed artists of interest.
3. An itemized list of financial needs form VIVO.
4. An itemized list of equipment needs from VIVO.
5. An itemized list of technical assistance/support required from VIVO.
6. A 100-word description of what this screening/exhibition/event can offer VIVO and its community as a whole.
7. A concise (maximum two page) personal and/or organizational CV.
8. Two examples of proposed work that will be included in the screening/exhibition/event. Must be viewable online.

Screenings/Exhibitions/Events

All requests for screenings, exhibitions and events at VIVO require a formal written application. *

The following items are required in any proposal:
1. Two proposed dates/timeframe for the screening/exhibition/event.
2. A 200-400 word description of your art work 's direction that include proposed artists of interest.
3. An itemized list of financial needs form VIVO.
4. An itemized list of equipment needs from VIVO.
5. An itemized list of technical assistance/support required from VIVO.
6. A 100-word description of what this screening/exhibition/event can offer VIVO and its community as a whole.
7. A concise (maximum two page) personal and/or organizational CV.

Co-productions

All requests for co-productions at VIVO require a formal written application. * Part of VIVO 's mandate is to support artists and art organizations who do not have the facilities to administrate or execute their work. You must have a valid MEMBERSHIP to participate in Co-Productions.

The following items are required in any proposal:
1. Two proposed dates/timeframe for the co-productions.
2. A 200-400 word description of the co-production that include descriptions of the type of work being screened/exhibited/shown and the artists that this work supports.
3. An itemized list of financial needs form VIVO.
4. An itemized list of equipment needs from VIVO.
5. An itemized list of technical assistance/support required from VIVO.
6. A 100-word description of what this screening/exhibition/show can offer VIVO and its community as a whole.
7. A concise (maximum two page) personal and/or organizational CV.
8. Two examples of past or proposed work. Must be viewable online.

VIVO Member Events

VIVO Members can put up their own public events at VIVO and use their Video Bucks to cover some of the rental costs. A fee for staffing and administration of $200+HST for a 5-hour block is required, with each additional hour charged at $80+HST/Hour.

You are invited to propose your event if:
• You are a Producer Member.
• Your event reflects VIVO’s Events + Exhibitions mandate.
• You have enough Video Bucks to cover your rental upon booking of your event.

Terms for proposing a Member Event:
• Member Events must be booked two months in advance and are subject to VIVO rental policies.
• Staffing and Administration fees must be paid two weeks in advance of the event (Video Bucks not applicable).
• Members may set the price of admission and maintain 100% of the profit.
• VIVO operates the concession and maintains 100% of concession profits.
• Members are responsible for their own publicity. VIVO will promote the event through members email lists.

Donation Requests

All requests for donations that include studio needs, equipment needs, or staff assistance from VIVO require a formal written application. You must have a valid MEMBERSHIP to request donations.

The following items are required in any proposal:
1. Two proposed dates/timeframe for the screening/exhibition or other event.
2. A 200-word description explaining why the donation is required.
3. An itemized list of donations required.
4. A 200-word description of how this donation will benefit VIVO and its community as a whole.
5. A concise (maximum one page) personal and/or organizational CV.

Teaching Workshops

All proposals for teaching workshops at VIVO require a formal written application. *

The following items are required in any proposal:
1. Two proposed dates/timeframe for the workshop(s). Proposed dates are only considered at least 6 months from the time the proposal is submitted, with limited exceptions.
2. A 200-400 word description of the proposed workshop(s), what it intends to address and a description of who the target student is.
3. An itemized list of equipment needs from VIVO.
4. An itemized list of technical assistance/support required from VIVO.
5. A budget for materials/supplies and instructor fees.
6. A 100-word description of how this workshop will benefit VIVO and its community as a whole.
7. A concise (maximum one page) personal and/or organizational CV.

* Proposals can also be given orally but are preferred in writing. An appointment, well in advance of the proposed dates must be made for oral presentations.
