SUNDAY MARCH 13 〓 1PM (Free admission)
Artist talk w/ Katherine Kline
+ Peter Kutin & Flo Kindlinger
At: Western Front
303 East 8th Ave
Katherine Kline will introduce her current research that explores human relationship with non-human entities of all kinds through practices of channeling and mediumship.
In her sound practice Kline plays with synthesizer, tape and field recordings of psychic channeling sessions. Kline’s work can be situated on a spectrum between the nunnery and the basement, entities of light and fleshy bodies, psyche and machine. She is in the Powers (with Emily Pelstring and Jessica Mensch), collaborates with Montreal artist Leyla Majeri, and is one half of Dreamcatcher.
Austrian artists Peter Kutin and Flo Kindlinger will present excerpts from their collaborative project Decomposition I/III. Released as record and presented as multimedia performance at festivals, Decomposition I/III provides an experience of sonic realities and aural layers beyond human’s perception and leads the listeners through territories antagonistic to human life. The focus of Kutin’s and Kindliger‘s work lies in the search and research of new forms of sonic expression, both experimenting with sounds and developing methods alternative to conventional field recording practices.
Kutin’s and Kindlinger’s projects have been presented and honored at music, film festivals and symposia for
contemporary music! (NK, Berlin/ 25fps, Zagreb/ Diagonale, Graz / Schwindel der Wirklichkeit, Akademie der Künste, Berlin/ PIAS Awards 2013/ jury Nomination for the Golden Nica 2015).
DESTROY VANCOUVER is an experimental music and sound art series curated by John Brennan and Elisa Ferrari. Coalescing around improvised forms of music and sound art, DV combines a broad range of experimental music genres and sound art aesthetics and brings together international improvisers with local and national sound artists and avant-garde musicians.
Katherin Kline and Peter Kutin will perform on Saturday, March 12 at the 15th edition of Destroy Vancouver:

PETER KUTIN works with sound as composer, producer, sound-sculptor. Kutin realized a wide variety of works & sound-ethnological projects. Beside solo works, he collaborated with other musicians, film-& theater directors, visual artists as well as journalists; in studios, in the field and on stage. After accomplishing his latest project ‘desert-sound’ in the abandoned regions of the Atacama, he has become very interested in the resonance-patterns of glacier gaps.
