Statement from VIVO’s Board of Directors, Management and Staff

To our Members and Community,

Emma Hendrix, the General Manager of VIVO Media Arts Centre, has resigned his post effective May 17, 2016.

Emma has served at VIVO Media Arts Centre for the past 13 years while maintaining an active artistic practice. During this time he established himself as an important voice for the media arts sector both locally and nationally. Prior to occupying the position of VIVO’s General Manager, Emma was involved with the organization as a Production and Technical Coordinator. With his guidance, VIVO has grown and successfully navigated major changes including the centre’s recent relocation and ongoing renovations.

On behalf of the VIVO Board, Advisory Council, Management and Staff, we would like to express our warmest thanks to Emma for his commitment to making VIVO an accessible, engaging, and pioneering space for Vancouver’s media arts community. He has been an essential part of the centre’s recent history and has been an important advocate for the media arts and artist-run communities in the region. His tenure at VIVO has been marked by significant contributions in the areas of programming, visioning, and sustainability-building. Emma has left a legacy of successful projects that will continue to positively impact the organization into the future. We wish Emma all the best with his future artistic and professional ventures.

VIVO Media Arts Centre will form a committee to find new leadership for the centre. In the meantime, the Board will appoint an Interim Manager, whose name will be announced shortly.
