Video Out Call for Submissions: New Normal, New Narrative
For Video Out’s latest thematic call-for-submissions, New Normal, New Narrative invites work that respond to the the everyday as it has changed since the pandemic. In what ways have you connected or disconnected? How has intimacy survived? What is your voice, where is it located, what does it long for?
Recalling the literary new narrative tradition of an aesthetic “part formal experimentation, part critical theory…part gossip column,”¹ VO is seeking works that are lushly tactless, excessively vulnerable, totally show-all, tell-all, no holds barred — works in which “everyone is once a sex god and totally abject in an everyday kind of way.”²
To submit, please send a weblink of the work (Wetransfers not accepted), a short synopsis, and an artist bio to firstname.lastname@example.org. Digital (including digitized film) submissions only, maximum two submissions per artist.
Video Out accepts works for screen, installation, and web-based contexts. Selected works will be presented in a program in Fall 2021, and added to Video Out’s distribution collection.
Send your submission with the subject: NNNN-LastName by August 1st, 2021.
