If 2015 is the year you get more involved in the media arts community, want to gain invaluable experience in an artist-run organization, learn the technical side of VIVO’s operations, or just want to hang out with the team, we want you!

A volunteer who commits to 3 months (or completes a specific project with us) qualifies for a beaming letter of recommendation, a chunk of ‘Video Bucks’ for work exchange and a full-year membership with the organization. We currently have openings in TECH, ADMIN, EDUCATION, EVENTS + EXHIBITIONS, and OPERATIONS:

TECH // Saturday Rentals + Event Set-up

Working closely with our Tech, Nikolai Gauer to facilitate equipment rental on Saturdays. The tech assistant will also learn to set up event equipment in a warehouse environment, setting up sound and visual equipment for screenings, concerts and exhibitions.

-Strong commitment to the arts and/or alternative audio/video production
-Strong interest in technical troubleshooting
-Some hands-on experience or a strong interest in working with production and post-production equipment
-Familiarity with Mac operating systems
-Effective communication skills and the ability to work well with others
-Resourceful, ability to work without supervision

Time availability and duration: Saturdays! 3-month minimum commitment.

ADMIN // Administration Assistance (experience not required)

Working with General Manager, Emma Hendrix to revise existing organization documents, spreadsheets, mailing lists, mandates, logos, etc.

-Must possess a desire to know the administrative side of arts organizations
-An understanding of Mac operating system and Microsoft Office (with an emphasis on Excel) OR a willingness to learn
-Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is a plus, but not required

Time availability and duration: one day/week, minimum 3-month commitment

EDUCATION // Media + PR (experience not required)

This role is designed as a learning opportunity for emerging artists with an expressed interest in media relations, PR and promotion. You will be working closely with Emily Smith and Education department instructors, and will develop skills in promoting activities in the arts/culture sector.

-Background and/or interest in the arts, media and advertising
-An interest in learning and getting involved with VIVO’s ongoing activities
-Good communication and writing skills
-Social media experience a plus

Time availability and duration: One day/week. Possibility of working remotely. Minimum 3-month commitment.

EVENTS + EXHIBITIONS // Photo + Video Editing

Working with E+E Coordinator, Elisa Ferrari to organize the photo and video documentation of past events for easier accessibility and promotion.

-Adobe! A knowledge of at least a couple of the following programs: Final Cut, Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom
-An appreciation and attention to detail

Time availability and duration: One day/week. Possibility of working remotely. Minimum 3-month commitment preferred, or until the project is over.

OPERATIONS // Monday Front Desk (experience not required)

Working with Community Engagement Coordinator, Brit Bachmann to make sure Front Desk operations run smooth on Mondays.

-Good communication and personable disposition for answering phones and emails
-Basic computer skills- Mac and Microsoft Office
-Ability to work in a spontaneous and completely unpredictable office circumstances

Time availability and duration: Monday, 11-6pm. There may be occasional tasks to be completed, but for the most part candidates can work on their own projects while checking emails and answering phones. 3-month minimum commitment.
