VIVO and the Crista Dahl Media Library & Archive invite you to join us as we look back on Vancouver’s 1973 MATRIX International Video Exchange Conference & Festival, one of the earliest international gatherings of alternative video producers, and the event where the Video Inn Library was conceived.
Your $60 donation is your ticket to an unforgettable evening. In addition to savouring a delicious, homemade Italian meal, you’ll enjoy a Prosecco reception, a private multimedia exhibition of rare archival material, and enlightening conversation with MATRIX organizers and attendees around the dinner table.
Our exclusive exhibition draws on the MATRIX and Satellite Video Exchange Society fonds, and will include original textual materials from the event, photographs by artist Kazumi Tanaka, newly digitized video from the MATRIX Collection – originally brought to the event by delegates and forming the basis of the Video Inn Library – and original audio recordings from the conference itself.
In the 1970’s tradition of the Video Inn Collective’s notorious dinner meetings, we are hosting an Italian multi-course feast. Lovingly conceived and prepared by our Archive’s most dedicated benefactors Crista Dahl and Frans Van de Ven. (Vegetarian options available. Wine will be available for purchase by the bottle or glass. Cash bar.)
Joining us at the table will be VIVO founders media artist Paul Wong, Michael Goldberg (via Skype from Japan), and long-time S.V.E.S. archivist and our host, Crista Dahl. Stay tuned for further announcements!
Tickets are available easily and quickly online through our CanadaHelps link (credit card, debit, PayPal) or in person at VIVO during regular hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 11am – 6pm.
Reserve your place at the table by purchasing your tickets by October 10th!
* Charitable Tax Receipt issued.
