Pedro Ferreira

Pedro Ferreira (born in 1988, Portugal) is a Berlin-based artist and PhD student of Fine Arts, Multimedia Art, at the University of Lisbon and a recipient of the doctoral scholarship by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). He researches post-digital aesthetics in audiovisual art and focuses on the impact of digital technologies on society. His artistic practice includes sound art, installation, audiovisual performance and experimental film that critically examine media technologies and their failures as well as their materiality. His documentary films examine globalization, industrialization, urbanization and social issues in an attempt to comprehend the world from a micro-point of view. He is particularly interested in DIY creative approaches such as neo-analogue media, the reuse and repurpose of analogue media, and digital making, the exploration of digital technologies through making and hybridisation between the physical and digital realms through custom software (FLOSS), hardware assemblage and physical materials.
