Kate Barry is a performance artist working in drawing, painting and video.  Her work centers on embodied practice; she employs live art methodologies including body, object relationships to create performative-paintings and video.

Specializing in performance art, video and live art practices, Barry’s work spans almost three decades queering notions of gender and sexuality through painting and drawing. Her current research centers on site-specific performative-painting and video installation. Barry has developed a methodology called performative-aktion-painting which is a collaboration between body, object and site. It’s an approach that employs handmade paint brushes to create large-scale action paintings on unstretched canvas. The handmade brushes are used sculpturally as an extension of the queer body.  Mediated through video and video projections the camera expands the live art experience through time and space.
